Wooah this is the most sought after at the moment, and the good news is that
these two books are now available on our service, would you like to read them

But before reading a little synopsis first, I will include it below ...
Yumiko Kadota was every Asian parent's dream- model student, top of her class
in medical school and on track to becoming a surgeon. A self-confessed
workaholic, she regularly put 'knife before life', knowing it was all going to
be worth it because it would lead to her longed-for career. But if the
punishing hours in surgery weren't hard enough, she also faced challenges as a
young female surgeon navigating a male-dominated specialty. She was regularly
left to carry out complex procedures without senior surgeons' oversight; she
was called all sorts of things, from 'emotional' to 'too confident'; and she
was expected to work a relentless on-call roster - sometimes seventy hours a
week or more - to prove herself.Eventually it was too much and Yumiko
quit.Emotional Female is her account of what it was like to train in the
Australian public hospital system, and what made her walk away.Yumiko Kadota
is a voice for her generation when it comes to burnout and finding the
resilience to rebuild
And this is as detailed as the book ...

Roosevelt, Kennedy, Eisenhower … they all got a pass. But today we peer back
at the moment when poking into the private lives of political figures became
standard practice.
In 1987, Gary Hart was a young charismatic Democrat, poised to win his party’s
nomination and possibly the presidency. Many of us know the story of what
happened next, and even if you don’t, it’s a familiar tale. But at the time,
politicians and political reporters found themselves in uncharted territory.
With help from author Matt Bai, we look at how the events of that May shaped
the way we cover politics, and expanded our sense of what's appropriate when
it comes to judging a candidate.

Sword and Scale isn't just a podcast. We also have a website
(swordandscale.com) where we post daily stories of dark deeds done by the most
evil and devious amongst us. To highlight this point, we've chosen two stories
that we've previously covered in articles on our website. The first is
extremely fascinating, the second is extremely violent. Harvey's Wagon Wheel
Casino was a popular destination for tourists in the Lake Tahoe area, until it
was blown to bits by one of the most complex bombs ever built. We're joined by
Adam Higginbotham, author of 1,000 Pounds of Dynamite to tell this amazing
story. Our second story is that of a girl from Japan named Junko Furuta, who
endured 44 days of torture, before her death, at the hands of countless others
who could have stopped what was happening at any time, but chose not to.

We live in a world where pregnant women have to fear going about their daily
lives as they normally would because of the very real possibility that the
unthinkable could happen to them at any time. It did to Michelle Wilkins, a
mom who was trying to get some inexpensive baby clothes for her unborn
daughter Aurora. Instead, what she got was a nightmare which unfolded on a
beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Longmont, Colorado. The person who
perpetrated this heinous act wasn't a serial killer, drug addict, or psycho,
it was another mom named Dynel Lane. Dynel was so desperate to have another
child that she would resort to lying to her friends and family and,
eventually, unspeakable acts to secure whatever benefit she perceived from
motherhood. In this episode we examine this crime and others like it, and try
to answer the fundamentally basic question of what makes a mom a monster.

In this critically important episode, Joel & Dan sit down with pastor Tim
Whipple of Bridgepoint Church in St Petersburg, Florida (one of the fastest
growing churches in the United States) to discuss the tough questions
surrounding God and faith, including:
-Isn’t faith in God “blind faith” since you can not see or hear him?
-Is it normal to have doubts about God?
-Is there legitimate evidence supporting God’s existence? How can someone defend their belief in God with facts?
-Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does God allow suffering (natural disasters, disease, pre-mature death, heartbreak, disappointment?)
-How can we be sure that Jesus was the Son of God/Messiah?
-How can I personally have a relationship with God?
And so much more. Whether you are someone of faith, someone still unpacking
their faith, or someone who is skeptical, this episode will provide the
answers to many of the questions you may be wondering about.

Every time I do an episode on polarization, I get a few emails asking: What about deliberative democracy? Couldn’t that be an answer? Deliberative democracy, if you’re not familiar, refers to a broad set of approaches in which citizens get together, with or without their representatives, to deliberate on political questions. Not just vote, or donate money, but actually work through hard questions, in a structured process, together. Jane Mansbridge is the Charles F. Adams professor of political leadership and democratic values at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, a past president of the American Political Science Association, and co-editor of the book, Deliberative Systems: Deliberative Democracy at the Large Scale. So she’s not just a pioneering theorist on deliberative democracy, she’s specifically studied the question where I’m most skeptical: Can it scale? **Book recommendations: **https://www.amazon.com/Politics-People-Representative-Democracy- Psychology/dp/1107117267" target="new"> Politics with the People: Building a Directly Representative Democracy by Michael A. (Part 1) I’ve been receiving requests from some of you to release the three
podcasts I created years ago on the 1964 unsolved murder of Beverly Jarosz.
These 3 episodes were among the first podcasts I ever created, and it was
under the name American Crimecast. You will hear interviews from Beverly’s
sister Carol along with her mother Eleanor. I am very saddened to share that
Eleanor has since passed away.
On December 28th, 1964, sixteen year old high school junior Beverly Jarosz was
slain in her home in Garfield Heights, Ohio. Almost 52 years later we sat
down with her family. This is her story.
