Noam’s love for radio began years ago, as a young boy in Trenton, New Jersey, when he would sneak his clock radio under the covers and listen to late night talk radio stars Sally Jesse Raphael, Irv Homer and Bernard Meltzer. Geeky perhaps, but a premonition for what was in store for him.

In "Hardcore History" journalist and broadcaster Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", unorthodox way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This isn't academic history (and Carlin isn't a historian) but the podcast's unique blend of high drama, masterful narration and Twilight Zone-style twists has entertained millions of listeners.

As a teenager in 1975, I had my first job at the Princeton Brain Bio-Center, where I was assigned the important task of helping Dr. Carl Pfeiffer write Zinc and Other Micro-Nutrients. When we wrote that book it was considered that lead was safe at 80 parts per million; we argued that a safe level was zero. Subsequently, every five years or so, the Environmental Protection Agency lowered this limit to 60, then 40, then 20, then 10, and some groups even lowered it down to zero for children. At that time, we discovered the important role for zinc, which was connected to a hundred enzymes. (Iron was involved with only eight enzymes and received far more attention.) Later, when I was evaluating medical schools, I was told by the Dean at Harvard Medical School that my work on nutrition was completely meaningless and obsolete, and unimportant for medicine. The importance of micro-nutrients in our soil and the impact on behavior is still not as well known as it should be. The importance of magnesium in heart disease and of selenium as an anti-cancer agent, and the long term toxic effects of aluminum, lead, cadmium, and mercury on the brain were all identified in my first book.

With over 30 years in broadcasting as a news anchor, sports anchor, weather person, feature reporter, talk show host, investigative reporter, documentarian and commentator in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Diego, Larry Mendte has become a staple in media. Murrow Awards, 11 Film Festivals, 12 Emmys and is on permanent exhibit at the Paley Center. The documentary led to an annual telethon that has raised over 15 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. Mendte was responsible for changing two state laws in Illinois after a series of reports on school bus safety and it was his series of commentaries on 9/11 First Responders that helped pass the Zadroga 9/11 First Responders health and compensation bill.
