With over 30 years in broadcasting as a news anchor, sports anchor, weather person, feature reporter, talk show host, investigative reporter, documentarian and commentator in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Diego, Larry Mendte has become a staple in media. He was not only the first host of Access Hollywood, but he later wrote and directed "Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope," a documentary that won the national Sigma Delta Chi Award, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, 11 Film Festivals, 12 Emmys and is on permanent exhibit at the Paley Center. The documentary led to an annual telethon that has raised over 15 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. Mendte was responsible for changing two state laws in Illinois after a series of reports on school bus safety and it was his series of commentaries on 9/11 First Responders that helped pass the Zadroga 9/11 First Responders health and compensation bill.
